Special Events at the Friendship Center are fun for all!

The Winona Friendship Center hosts many special events throughout the year. Whether it is a picnic by the lake, musical entertainment, or a party, fun can be had by all who attend!  Pre-registration and payment required.

CAL FREMLING RIVER CRUISE: “THE WORKING RIVER-PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE”:

  • Enjoy a 90 minute cruise on the Mississippi River aboard WSU’s Cal Fremling houseboat/floating class room
  • Learn about the Mississippi River
  • Snacks and refreshments provided, bring your own binoculars
  • Lower level of boat and bathrooms are handicapped accessible
  • Cruise will leave the west side Levee dock at 2:30 p.m. sharp

 GUT HEALING FERMENTED FOODS:

  • Learn the role microbiome plays in our health
  • Learn how to make fermented dairy, veggies and kombucha
  • Learn about die-off reactions
  • Sample fermented foods

TELECONFERENCE: CLEVELAND MUSEUM:

  • You will have rich, highly interactive conversations with museum staff
  • Subjects will include America’s Story through Art, Gods and Heroes of Greece and Rome, Medieval Masterpieces, Impressionism, Japanese Art and more

MINI HAND SAW PAINTING: Instructor: Barb Halvorson

Wed               Jul 20                        11-4 p.m.                                            Members: $20

  • Come in and “cool off” and paint a winter barn scene on a mini hand saw
  • No experience necessary and satisfaction guaranteed
  • Medium used is oil, all materials provided

COFFEEHOUSE CONVERSATION:

Wed       Jul 27         1-3 p.m.        Members: $1         Deadline:  July 25

  • Laze away your summer afternoon enjoying a beverage and friendly fellowship
  • An “open mic” format will be available for interested participants
  • Bring along a favorite poem, book passage or other short readings to share with the group
  • You are welcome to come and listen if you are not wanting to share
  • A great time for sippin’ and snippets

LETS GO FISHING OF THE GREATER WINONA AREA (LGF) is a non-profit organization that is devoted to enriching the lives of individuals through free fishing and boating activities that build relationships and create memories. Excursions are approximately 1-3 hours, depending on the group. No cost except for a current fishing license (if applicable). Donations welcome.   All equipment provided on a safe & handicap-accessible Pontoon boat. Call LGF at 507-205-7853 to book your outing with family & friends! The Winona Friendship Center monetarily supports Let’s Go Fishing-Let’s support them. Register for the below dates through the Center at 454-5212. Meet at Winona Marina at the foot of Laird St.
