1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN

This program for ages 1 to Kindergarten encourages all families and caregivers to read 1,000 books with their young children before they enter Kindergarten. Stop by the library to hear more or check out our website!

LITERACY LITTLES

Wednesdays in October at 10:30 AM

For ages 3-5. Practice the 6 skills of early literacy with this interactive program series!

Week 1, Oct. 4: Letter Knowledge–Learn letters with fun & hands-on activities
Week 2, Oct. 11: Phonological Awareness–Interactive rhyming activities
Week 3, Oct. 18: Print Awareness and Print Motivation–Word hunts and reading
Week 4, Oct. 25: Vocabulary and Narrative Skills–Tell stories and learn new words


EXPLORE-A-STORY

Wednesdays in December at 10:30 AM

For ages 2-5. We’ll read a story and then do activities & crafts based on the book.

Week 1, Dec. 6: Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty

October 27, 1:30-2:30 PM: Halloween Haunted Stacks – See if you’re brave enough to make it through our haunted stacks…

November 6: The Magic of Isaiah (East End Rec Center – 210 Zumbro St)
The Magic of Isaiah presents Magic Made Easy, a 60-min magic course where you can learn tricks to perform at home. A few of the tricks include reading your volunteer’s mind using crayons, making a toothpick disappear right before your audience’s eyes, and more! The course is designed for eight years of age and older. You may register for ONE of the classes. Each session contains the same information.

December 26, 10:30 AM: Special Storytime: Elephant & Piggie

LEGO BUILDERS CLUB

2nd & 4th Thursdays at 4:00 – 5:00 PM
Unless no school (WAPS)

Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. This drop-in program offers the chance to make your own creations using our bounty of LEGOS!

Join us for this free family literacy & wellness fair for families with young
children; siblings welcome! Storytelling, crafts, free pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 10 AM, and each child attending goes home with a free book!
