Broadway Avenue Project

Broadway 4 lane to 3 lane Conversion Project

A public meeting will be held from 4pm to 6pm with a presentation at 5pm on Thursday March 19th in City Hall Council Chambers to discuss the Broadway 4 lane to 3 lane Conversion Project.  This will be an open house format with opportunity for comment and discussion regarding this project.

This project is currently projected to be constructed in the summer of 2021.  This project is primarily intended to improve safety of pedestrian crossings and also make a safer roadway for motorists and cyclist.  The project will convert the current 4-lane road to a 3-lane road with the middle lane being a two way left turn lane.  Broadway Avenue will be reconstructed from Sioux Street to Mankato Avenue.  The project will replace all non-conforming pedestrian ramps and will bring them into compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.  There also will be approximately 5 intersections where curb ramp bump outs will be constructed.  Below is an approximate timeline for the project as well as several links that elaborate on “Road Diets”.  Please note that the link for “Broadway Layout” is only a preliminary representation and may be modified going forward.
