Winona City Council meetings – now online

The Winona City Council has temporarily transitioned its meetings online due to the need for physical distancing during COVID-19.

The council will meet using Zoom during its regularly scheduled times, the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 6:30 pm. Most council members and city staff will participate remotely; a few will participate in City Hall’s council chambers while adhering to physical distancing guidelines.

Residents who want to participate can download and use the free Zoom video platform and this meeting ID (896-465-916) or this link to the meeting room: Residents can also call in by dialing 312-626-6799 (primary) or 646-558-8656 (backup).

As with traditional council meetings, members of the public will only be allowed to speak during certain times, like public hearings.

For participants:
• Only use one audio source; audio from computer is preferred if available.
• Be aware of background noise from your location.
• If using phone, do not use the speaker function. Please note that your phone number and/or name will be visible to other participants.
• If using a web cam, be aware of what is in your background.
• If you have headphones, please use them as that will limit background noise.
• Please mute your audio until you wish to speak. Then unmute your audio, and ask the Mayor for permission to talk.

Residents who want to watch can view meetings live as usual on the Government Access Channel (Channel 19 on HBC and Channel 987 on Charter) and on the city’s website. Meetings will also be streamed on the city’s Facebook page.

Meeting recordings are posted to the city’s YouTube channel.

City commissions and boards will continue to meet on their regular meeting dates, unless notice is given that their meeting has been cancelled. These meetings will also use Zoom. The Zoom information for each meeting is available on the public meeting calendar on the city website.
