Access To Recreation

The Winona Park and Recreation Department welcomes people of all ages and abilities to participate in our programs and events. If you or someone you know would like to take advantage of our programming and requires special accommodations, please contact us at 507-457-8258.

Program Withdraw / Cancellations / Transfers

In the unfortunate case a program withdrawal needs to be made, we require this be done 5 business days prior to the start of the program in order to receive a refund, less a $5 processing fee.  We allow a one-time transfer to another session 5 business days prior to the start of the program.  This gives our staff the chance to enroll participants on the waiting list.  No refund will be given for cancellations that are less than 5 business days prior to the program start date.

The Parks and Recreation Department will make weather-related cancellation decisions and update the information line at 507-457-8220 as soon as the decision is made.  If a participant chooses to withdraw due to weather within the 5 business days before the start date, no refund will be given.

Weather-Related Information

In the event a program or activity needs to be cancelled due to weather, we will do our best to update the cancellation line to relay that information as soon as possible.  You can call and check the status of programs and activities at 507-457-8220.

Scholarship Information

Scholarships are available to remove financial barriers to recreation.  We follow the free and reduced lunch guidelines to determine financial assistance and allow for hardships to be considered in the application process. The application form is located on our website and is also available in our office.

To apply, complete the Scholarship Request Form (PDF) and include a copy of the letter from your school indicating that you qualify for free or reduced lunch or a copy of your 2020 tax return.  You will then be informed of your qualification category.  The funding for scholarships is provided through a collaboration with Winona County.

Online registration is not available if you plan on accessing the scholarship discount.
