Policies
City policy mandates that all plots must be actively cultivated, or they will be reassigned. The garden plot should be actively used for growing vegetables, fruit, flowers, etc. Plots are to be regularly maintained throughout the growing season. Regular care includes planting, watering, harvesting, and removal of weeds. If plots are not cared for or used, they will be reassigned.
Bees
Fuzzy, helpful, honey bees have been reintroduced to the garden. In previous years we have spent the summer watching them happily buzz about and do what they do best: pollinate the world around us. We are again excited to provide hive inspections and educational opportunities for folks who want to get an intimate look at honeybees and the process of raising them. Keep your eyes peeled to our Facebook page for more information.
Winona Seed Bank & Library
The Seed Library is located at the East Recreation Center and is free and open to all! The Seed Library offers a variety of seeds from vegetables to flowers. The seed library strives to educate, exchange, and preserve seeds for the Winona community. The library is sustained through seed donations. If you would like to make a donation or select seeds, stop by the ERC during open hours.
Winona Farmers Market
The Winona Farmers Market is a local organization that organizes local producers of produce, flowers, cottage goods, crafts, and more in the community.
