Active Wellness Center COVID-19 Policy

  1. Active Wellness Center COVID-19 Policy

    In an effort to ensure the safety of our staff and the people we serve, the Friendship Center will be opening the Active Wellness Center with the following guidelines. The Wellness Center will be following guidance from the Center of Disease Control (CDC), MN Department of Health (MDH), and City of Winona. If you are concerned or wish to schedule a private session with the Wellness Center please contact the Friendship Center for details and options.

  2. The Wellness Center will be available by appointment only from 6am-10am Monday-Friday. Fitness reservations will be 45 minutes long and will host a maximum of four participants per slot. All reservations must be made by calling the Friendship Center. Note: There will be limited availability of machines, please indicate your preferred machines at time of registration. Please be aware there will likely be wait times during your 45 minute sessions.

  3. Session times are the following: 7:00-7:45 a.m., 8:00-8:45 a.m., 9:00-9:45 a.m., 10:00-10:45 a.m.

  4. Registrations can be made up to a week in advance with up to two reservations per week. Reservations can be made by calling the Friendship Center between 6-10am Monday-Friday. If next day time-slots are unfilled, a patron may call in to request additional time-slots. All registrants will adhere to the following policies. Failure to comply with any one or more policy may result in immediate dismissal from Wellness Center for as little as one day and up to one year. No refunds will be provided to individuals who fail to comply with any Wellness Center Policy.

  5. Registrants will wait at the Friendship Center main entrance, spaced 6 feet apart. Registrants will be admitted into the building five minutes prior to the start of their session.

  6. All registrants will wear a mask while waiting at the door. All registrants will participate in a temperature screening by staff. Once screening is complete registrants must wear their mask while inside the entrance and Main Room. Masks may be removed while exercising.

  7. A COVID-19 waiver release from City of Winona must be signed prior to a patron’s first day in the Active Wellness Center.

  8. Patrons should not enter if they are abnormally experiencing any combination of the following symptoms that are unrelated to any pre-existing chronic condition: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose. nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

  9. Patrons should not enter the Friendship Center if they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, are awaiting results from a COVID-19 test, live with someone awaiting results, or have been told by a medical professional they likely have COVID-19. .

  10. Hand sanitizer will be available and face masks are recommended for all individuals entering the Friendship Center and waiting for admittance

  11. Registrants are to arrive dressed in fitness clothes. Chairs will be available in the main room for registrants to change into gym shoes and to leave any purses, phones, street shoes or other items they do not wish to keep on their person while exercising. Personal items will not be allowed in the Wellness Center. Water bottles will be permitted.

  12. Registrants and Health Specialist will maintain at least a six-foot distance while in the Wellness Center.

  13. Hand Sanitizer, spray bottles and/or wipes will be available for each patron. Patrons are required to wipe down each machine before & after each use. MDH sheets will be available for viewing.

  14. At the end of the 45 minute session, patrons will be asked to leave the Wellness Center. Patrons may change shoes and collect personal items from the Main Room and immediately exit the Friendship Center.

  15. Due to lack of central air conditioning this space will be cooled with a window unit. Overhead fan will be on a low setting.

  16. The Main Room will not be available for exercise use.

  17. Patrons will not have access to staff offices, or other spaces beyond the entrance, Main Room, or Active Wellness Center.

  18. Bathrooms will be available for patron use.

  19. The following machines or equipment are not available at this time: Bench Press

  20. Please be aware that there may be a waiting period for machine use. There will be one NuStep and One treadmill available at a time.

  21. Please bring your own water bottle. The Wellness Center water cooler will not be available. No food or other beverages will be allowed.
